The provision of food and drink or commonly known as PMM is an important sector. It is undeniable that eating and drinking is a basic human need. The Covid-19 pandemic that has hit the world has hit the food and drink provider business hard. A number of restrictions on social activities are the main factors for the decline in business in this sector.
After the relaxation of community restrictions implemented by the government, now the food and drink provider business feels optimistic and is reviving. The business of cafes, restaurants, food stalls, and so on is believed to have good prospects, along with the desire of many people to return to their activities and socialize like they used to.
The business of providing food and drink with regional or modern characteristics is now part of a tourism destination so that it appears as one of the tourism icons in the form of culinary tourism typical of the area. Efforts to develop culinary-based tourist destinations are continuously being carried out. These efforts really need support in the form of data on the business of providing food and drink as a basis for policy making, both by the government and business actors.
In order to meet the data needs related to food and beverage providers, the Central Statistics Agency as a provider of quality data from April to May 2022 held the Food and Drink Provider Business Survey for Micro and Small Enterprises (VREST UMK) as a sample. The activity was carried out by Regency/City BPS, including Salatiga City BPS. The businesses covered are restaurants, restaurants, catering, and other food and drink providers.
The survey of micro and small scale food and drink providers in Salatiga City was conducted by 4 enumerators and 2 supervisors. To collect data on the business of food and drink providers, first updating the business of food and drink providers in the selected area. Updating is done in the period of 15 s.d. April 30, 2022, while business data collection will be conducted in May 2022. The results of this survey are expected to be used as material for further evaluation and policy recommendations.
