September 24, 2026 | Other Activities
The *Kampus Merdeka*
(Independent Campus) Internship Program is an initiative by the Ministry of
Education, Culture, Research, and Technology that offers active university
students the opportunity to learn firsthand in a professional work environment.
Currently, there are 10
interns at BPS (Statistics Indonesia) Salatiga Municipality, comprising four students
from UIN Salatiga, three from Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES)—majoring in
Mathematics, Applied Statistics, and Communication Science—and three from Universitas
Kristen Satya Wacana (UKSW) majoring in Informatics Engineering.
For the students, this program
serves as a form of learning outside the traditional classroom, offering a
chance to become familiar with and directly involved in a real-world work
environment. During the internship, students gain experience by supporting
various activities at BPS Salatiga Municipality. This experience equips them to
understand how academic knowledge translates into actual work while fostering
discipline, responsibility, communication skills, and teamwork abilities. The
internship provides students with the opportunity to gain direct work
experience, apply knowledge acquired during their studies, and enhance the
skills needed to navigate the professional world. Students also learn about
operational processes at BPS, particularly those related to data and
statistics. Beyond fulfilling mandatory curriculum requirements, the program
serves as a means to gain practical experience, boost competence, and prepare
students for their future careers.
This internship fosters a
mutually beneficial relationship between the students and BPS Salatiga Municipality.
The presence of interns also benefits BPS Salatiga Municipality; students assist in
executing various activities based on their competencies and assigned tasks,
thereby supporting the agency's operations. Furthermore, the students' diverse
academic backgrounds allow them to contribute to completing various tasks as
needed.
The program includes
monitoring and evaluation by the participating universities. These activities
are expected to further strengthen the synergy and collaboration between the
universities and BPS Salatiga Municipality. Specifically, it provides a valuable learning
experience for students during their internship programs, while more broadly
promoting statistics to benefit the general public.
